My family has lived in Salem, NH for generations. My father, and his two brothers, have lived on the same street they grew up on for over a quarter of a century.

That ends next fall. My Uncle Ken and Aunt Mary are moving to the Seattle area. (Why? No idea...) They have purchased a house already. Why are they still here? No idea.

But they will be gone by next September.

This is not a surprise, because it's been coming for some time.

However, the suprise is that my Uncle Kevin and Aunt Carol, when Ken and Mary leave, will move into Ken and Mary's place (a house owned by the golf course that they rent from the company.)

At that time they will put their house on the market. (When my mother first told me this, I was like...WTF?????) My cousins are furious that their parents are selling the house out from under them without so much as a how do you do.

And then they will move to North Carolina sometime in 08.

At which point my parents will be the only ones left on our street, aside from Grandma. My dad's kind of broke up about it, since they've been so close for so long.

However...

My Aunt Carol came up to my mother the other day, and said to her "Are you and Bernie [My dad] interested in buying our house?" To which my mother said, almost laughingly. "I don't think so."

My mother posed the question to my father, who said. "Huh. Maybe."

And the logic began to track out. If my parents bought the house and rented it for a few years (possibly to my cousins, but that's another story), it would be available to Sara and I when she finishes grad school.

It's a nice house.

And it's got an in-law apartment...which means we could, in theory, take in Sara's mother if the need arose. That would make Sara's sister very happy, but that's another story. (It would also mean living with one set of in-laws and next door to the other....)

And this is only the begining of the story.

Lately, I've been wondering if the Good Lord's been trying to tell me something about my chosen career path. I'm building a nice little fort out of rejection letters, and wondering if maybe there isn't suppose to be a window opening up somewhere.

I'm enjoying the theater. I never though I'd enjoy being a manager. But it's been fun.

Which got me thinking. Ken and Mary are moving. Kevin and Carol are moving, so who knows where Dana and Craig are going to end up...
Which begs the question...who's going to be involved in the Golf Course? Especially if (GodForbid) something happened to Gram. I don't want to see the family lose our connection with the management. But Dad's got his law practice, and everybody else is moving...and...

I hated leaving that place in the first place. I love the land. It's MINE...erm...OURS.

So I'm doing some soul seraching, and some wondering, and a little bit of research into MBA programs. There's one offered through Plymouth State that meets in Lebanon at Granite College. I'm trying to find out what tuition is.

I always thought I'd make a great teacher. I love history. But maybe this isn't the way I'm supposed to go. I just don't know.

Anyway, back to my wondering and pondering.
