Kermi3 is right, now that I remember. The last few weeks before the school year starts, there is a flurry of hiring activity in school districts.

My Mum substitute taught for years. She got up in the morning, got ready for work and then when/if a call came she was just out the door. She could have worked every day if she wanted to. When she wanted a day off, she just didn't answer the phone in the morning.

When my brother finished his masters a couple summers ago, he spent the summer working in a factory (blech) while he job hunted. He was hired two weeks before the start of the school year and moved from the midwest to the east coast within a week of his initial interview. His wife and two small children packed up the house and followed him shortly thereafter.

I'm glad you considered my suggestion. You have talent, why not use it to your advantage professionally. And, I meant write to keep yourself busy professionally, not write instead of teaching. Write articles for magazines and submit them for consideration. That's a nice little extra bit of pocket money while you're interviewing and looking for a good teaching post. How much of your day does the job hunt really take before you're at your emotional limit? Good Luck!
